what we’re up to

Tina and I are busily moving through this week.

Over the weekend, we shot a rehearsal dinner, a trade show, a commitment ceremony, a DJ head shot, a band called Janus, another trade show and a tribute video.

We’ve already delivered a lot of the photography from the weekend, and now we’re editing video from the tribute as well as some other projects.

In a week and a half, we’re headed to Bali, Indonesia on a trip to gather as much street and landscape photography as we can.

We plan on blogging the heck out of our trip so be sure to stay tuned to our updates here.

Here are a couple shots vignette shots from the commitment ceremony weekend.

Welcome to the new home of r25 productions

We recently decided to make our blog our home site after having a static website for eight years. We made the decision for a couple of reasons.

The recent, corporate trend of sending people to Facebook or Twitter to find information  gave us the idea that we would make our Facebook and blogs the primary places to learn more about us.

We wanted to provide a more interactive feel, and social media gives us that advantage.

In other words, the static site is dead.

We also want to discuss tips, tricks and the industry, as we find that many of our customers are anxious to find out more information about photography, video and graphic design. We feel that the blog format gives people a chance to learn and grow as we do.

We will update here and at our Facebook site as frequently as we can. Using the sidebar, you can subscribe to our site. Consider “liking” our Facebook page, too.

We’re still working out the kinks of working in this format. There are some pages that aren’t updating properly. But we’re working on it.

If you’re new to r25 productions, we’re a photography and video production company. We also do graphic design, because there is so much cross over between these disciplines. We offer competitive rates and often travel with our clients as working with us is often more cost effective than hiring locally.

We’re booking up 2012  now, but we’re always anxious for new and exciting ventures. Drop us a line for more information to see how are great rates and product can benefit you, your family, your professional career or your company.

motion photography that inspires us

This international time lapse imagery from photographer Kien Lam is stunning and a definitive harbinger of things to come. We predict that still photography as we know it is going to die within the decade.

Motion picture in some form is going to overtake everything from wedding photography to advertising, and in many ways, it has already.

We also love that there’s a collaboration between the photographer and his musician brother.

17 Countries. 343 Days. 6237 Photographs. One incredible journey. Follow the adventure at http://kienlam.net/around-the-world and http://kienlam.net

After I quit my job last year, I packed a bag, grabbed my camera and bought a one way ticket to London. 17 countries later, I compiled this time lapse of the many amazing places I came across.

Original Music: “Places and Faces” by William Lam. Will is an extremely talented musical composer whose range is barely touched in this composition he wrote specifically for the video. He’s also my little brother. Visithttp://kienlam.net to download the MP3. If you want to commission William to write music, email him at MetaphysikaSounds@gmail.com

our annual motion picture holiday card

Every year, Tina and I produce a short video to wish our friends, family and — of course — our clients, Happy Holidays.

This year, we’re admittedly showing that we’re crazy for our pets. Everything’s cuter in slow-motion, we say, and we had a lot of fun putting this together.

We hope the very best for you and yours this entire holiday season. Feel free to read our year in review here.

Meowy Christmas and Happy Howlidays!

2011 year in review

At r25 productions, we’re wishing each and everyone of you happy holidays and a great new year. We hope your 2011 was a fantastic year and that 2012 will be even better.

We were looking over the past year and were proud to see how much travel, how many different jobs and the variety of clients we had throughout the year.

Travel. We shot in Boston, New York, Cleveland, Chicago, Mexico, Hawaii, Las Vegas and High Point, North Carolina.

Jobs. We shot interiors, corporate and family events, weddings, head shots, engagements, fashion, pet photography and a college graduation. We’re still doing graphic design and graphic art production. Oftentimes we’re hired as multimedia photographers shooting both stills and video. Other times, we’re hired as video only.

Investment. We’ve invested into more equipment this year, including two new cameras (video and still), new lighting, a teleprompter and lots of various computing equipment. We also have a dedicated studio for controlled shoots that make our clients look even better.

Client List. Some of our many clients included Baker Furniture, Anacara Furniture, Seasonal Living Furniture, International Interior Designers Association, Mon Cheri Bridals, Kenmore Appliances, Cooking Light Magazine, The Italian Trade Commission and The Merchandise Mart.

Underneath the Merchandise Mart umbrella, we worked for the following industries: One of a Kind, Antiques, Chicago Collective, Stylemax, Bridal NY, Bridal Chicago, Architectural Digest Home Design Show, Residential, Sharing It Day, LuxeHome, NeoCon and Gift.

We’ve shot families, bands, models, and dogs.

In 2012, we’re excited to see what new and different jobs we’ll be doing. We’re already booked with weddings, corporate events, teleprompter work, and shooting travel photography in Bali, Indonesia.

testing, testing … 1, 2, 3.

We’re happy to announce that we’re making our blog our main website.

The days of regular websites have ended. More and more companies are using social media instead, as it’s more interactive.

I’m testing a post to see if this goes out to our old list of subscribers.

We’ll work out the transition as quickly as possible. Thanks for stopping in and see you soon.

pardon our dust

Thanks for stopping by r25productions.com.

We recently decided to change our static website over to our blog. Things are in transition. If something doesn’t look right, it’s probably because it’s not.

There are broken links and things that say “slideshow”, but there is no slideshow.

Thanks for your patience while we get this change fixed.

In the meantime, check out our Facebook site for updated images or contact us by clicking here.

cool printing recommendation

Over at Photographer Scott Kelby’s blog, he posted about this really cool printing on aluminum that we thought was really cool.

The way the product is described is it’s like looking at a high definition TV image for the first time after only watching standard definition.

Go check out the product here at the ImageWizards web site. I know I’m going to look for an image to print this way and offer it in the future to clients.

another wedding photo retouched

Here’s another work in progress of a wedding photo retouch. I should go back and redo the skin processes again. But I love how the contrasts and tones are starting to pop. I’m also going to work on the sky a bit more. The original grays are making it difficult.

I love how the water is starting to have much more dimension, especially in the shallow pools.
